<description>I bought this heater after loosing money on CozyLegs. This heater is the best little heater, I find the remote control works real well to help from having to get up from our desks to make setting changes. We have a fairly big room we use it in. The only complaint that I have with it, is that when my wife is down here, she can change the tempature of the room from 67 to 75 in only less than 30 mins, and I am complaining that I need the thing turned off.

<description>Although heavy and probably larger than a window air conditioner, this unit is worth every penny. I have a home office with a server and a couple PCs in it and this unit keeps the room as cold as I want it! I have central air - but my office always seemed stuffy. Now the entire upstairs loft is as cool and comfortable as the rest of the house. The unit vents outside - and even with my sliding windows, the venting area is narrow and does not obstruct my view. It can also be vented directly through the wall, but that seemed a little extreme to me. It is probably as loud as a window unit and has a fan only mode and a de-humidifier mode. The temperature is set by degrees, not some dumb low-medium-high setting. It plugs into a normal household plug and could be moved to another area of the house with little trouble. I am thinking, if the power went out, this unit could be used with the generator, we would not cook like the last time we lost power in the summer.

<description>Though much larger than a window version, this unit, shaped like the penguin after which it's named, allows for the cooling of individual rooms on demand, rather than wasteful central air. Just like the gas heating stove I installed in the room I use most, I can close off the same room and cool it down for a fraction of the cost of full house cooling. The filered air is an elixir on those uncomfortable days. Sometimes I turn it on for a while, at a higher temperature, just to get some filtered air in a stuffy room.

Well worth the price. When once of the venting parts arrived broken, a friendly customer service person sent me a replacement within a few days.

<description>I bought this unit used, in very good shape.

I would say that, after 4 days of heavy usage It's 12000 BTU's are NOT enough to refrigerate a 180 Sqf room with a big window facing South. (summer time, with just a 90F temp. outside)

Also, its has NO movable / adjustable air deflectors; they are fixed and the air flow is too low, given the fact that cool air goes down.

Another con, it's a sealed unit, meaning, you need to get special repair service to install a refrigerant charge valve in order to supply R407C ecologic gas, which is more expensive than others.

Mine started leaking water from the bottom. I disassembled it, and after 18 screws, couldn't find the problem. Went online and found some people with the same problem: there's a small hole (you need to take off the left cover) that had some lint and was obstructing the flow of condensation water to the sink below: I had to use a wire, back and forth and VOILA, no more leaks. THIS IS NOT EXPLAINED IN THE MANUAL.

Pros are it's portability and lack of installation. (holes, etc. )

<description>The weakest heater I have ever seen, could not even heat a bathroom. You do feel some heat from it - if you put your hand right up to the vent. Could not even heat a 10X10 room after being on for hours. Pathetic.

<description>I've had this heater for about 2 years now, and it's worked quite well.

I chose this model and style of heater because I live in a small apartment with a clumsy cat and wanted something she couldn't knock over and that wouldn't have a lot of exposed heat elements that she might hurt herself on.

This heater is a lot different than any portable electric heater I've ever used in the past, because it is a whole ROOM heater and not just a space heater.
It does a good job of heating a space, but unlike dish-type heaters it doesn't generate a lot of heat all at once, and when you put your hand next to it it doesn't *feel* like it's creating a lot of heat. This was frustrating at first, but now I really like it because it means that the heater rarely gets hot enough to be dangerous.

This heater works best when placed near a wall, turned on, and left alone for a while. It can be a bit difficult to regulate the heat in a room because it doesn't have a thermometer temperature readout (just a dial from minimum to maximum heat) but overall I am very pleased with this heater.

PROS:
Conserves energy.
Safer design than most space heaters.
Heats a whole room well.

CONS:
Does not generate a lot of direct heat.
Somewhat slow to heat a room.

<description>I recently bought two of these. It doesn't heat even a small room nearly as well as the previous HZ 519 model. Don't know why that one's no longer available. It's a shame because it was the best little heater that I'd found. This one is shorter, but also taller, which I don't like. The previous model was lower and longer. . . less obtrusive in a room, and I believe that this is why it heater better.

<description>I was forced to use this current model for my refinished basement after my reliable HZ 519 model finally conked out on me after 6 years of reliabiity. This current replacement I must say is a huge, huge disappointment for large rooms because it doesn't heat anything of size. Even with the quick heat setting, unless you are right in front of it, you will find yourself mad. Even putting it in the kitchen as small as it was didn't generate nearly the heat as the white HZ 519 model did. That was the only space heater I have ever purchased that would warm my entire basement and I would have to turn off because it made the room too warm for comfort for me and the dogs on the highest settings. Even before I put a storm door and new steel entry door on the basement entrace, this heater was still able to warm that area despite the extreme draftiness an allowance of unblocked air from my old worn out entry door. This current model I bought last year as a backup/use for my toddlers room as a table top heater that she couldn't get to still doesn't heat her tiny room as much as it should. Now that temps have dipped into the 20's, I am really missing my HZ 519 model to the point I am going to order one online from whatever retailer may have one in stock. Unless you are heating up a small den or even a tiny bathroom without a regular vent for heat to blow into, i just think this model here is a waste of time and money. Find the white HZ 519 model. you will never be disappointed with that one and you won't have any need to turn up the thermostat past 75 degrees.

<description>I bought two of these heaters in seperated orders. They didn't work at all - One had no lights on, no heat and of course the timer didn't work either. The another one had lights on but no heat after two hours. Of course the timer didn't work again after I tried many times. I was ok with the dents and scrachs.
